Kindergarten is a milestone in your child's life, the first step towards lifelong learning and social participation. New experiences and friends will make this preparation a special time for you and your child.
The aim of Ready4School is to prepare children for Kindergarten.
A positive start to school includes:
- Development of secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships
- Conservations between children, teachers, families and the community
- High expectations and equity for every child
- Recognition and acknowledgement of cultural diversity
- Building on knowledge, skills and interest of a child
- Deep understanding of how young children learn
Being involved in a developmentally - appropriate program of targeted learning activities, coordinated by a qualified and experienced early childhood practitioner, children will be equipped to:
- Develop and consolidate meaningful social relationships with peers and others
- Participate in play-based learning activities
- Participate in Best Start, the national assessment of literacy and numeracy in the first 3 weeks of Kindergarten, with confidence and self-assurance;
The program has been designed to incorporate optimum early childhood practice provided by the Early Years Learning Framework and the teaching and learning experiences that the Department of Education requires for Kindergarten readiness.
All children who will be eligible to enter Kindergarten in 2019, ie turn 5 before July 31st, are welcome to attend.
Please bring in a copy of your child's Birth Certificate, Immunisation Record and proof of residential address (such as council rates notice, electricity bill, residential lease) on your first visit to the school.
